Estate agency guru Michael Day (main picture) of Integra Property Services fame is just one month away from completing his One Million Step charity challenge for Diabetes UK.

The Neg reported at the start of July how Day’s challenge would involve him walking one million steps and required an average of 10,870 steps every day for the ninety-two days involved – working out at a near whopping 500 miles.

COMPLIANCE EXPERT

For the last two months the compliance expert and Chief Executive of Integra Property Services has been pounding the streets and meadows of his home town Gerrards Cross and surrounding areas and now just has the month of September left to complete the challenge.

Day, who boasts some 47 years in the residential property industry, told The Neg: “To reach the one million steps target during July, August and September – so 92 days – you need to be doing an average of 10,870 steps every day. As of yesterday – day 59 (29 August) – I am averaging 11,872 a day!”

Day surpassed the half a million-step mark earlier this month and is now pushing onwards to complete the other half-a-million.

He says: “I am delighted at my progress so far and would like to thank The Neg and all those that have supported my efforts both through their encouragement and also their financial donations to the cause.

“To date I have raised over £2,525 which has exceeded my initial target and it would be great to add to that total in the coming weeks.”

10 MILE LONDON BRIDGES

And he adds: “I have signed up for the 10 Mile London Bridges walk on September 24th in aid of Diabetes UK and, on current performance, will actually reach my million step target on that day, if not before!”

Day has been a Type 1 diabetic for over 35 years and was motivated to take part in the challenge on a personal level to get fitter but also to raise awareness and money to support for the charity.

Diabetes UK helps nearly five million people in the UK and works to prevent Type 2 diabetes as well as campaigning for and supporting everyone affected by the disease as well as funding research that could one day lead to a cure.
