Third of home buyers know EXACTLY which home they want to bag

Research by Zoopla reveals how clued up some buyers are now although not all; a fifth has no idea where they'd like to live next.

Nearly a third of all house home buyers in the UK know which property or street they want to move to when considering their next step on the property ladder, it has been claimed.

According to research by Zoopla, home hunters are now much better briefed about their local market than before.

A fifth know which neighbourhood they want to live in, while another fifth of house hunters have a specific town in mind but only 21% have a vague or no idea where they would like to move.

The figures come from research among 6,000 people across the UK. Londoners were the most clued-up about where their ideal next home lay, followed by those in the North West, North East, West Midlands and East Midlands.

Zoopla’s latest research also reveals the towns where people check their home values the most.

Price checkers

The keenest price checkers are in Milton Keynes, the portal says, followed by those in Bedford, Colchester, Swindon and Reading.

“Our survey highlights to agents that their clients are researching their next property move more than ever before,” says Charlie Bryant, Managing Director of Zoopla (left).

The research is taken from the portal’s recent State of the Nation report which also found that young families are the most likely to have an ‘ideal’ home or street in mind.

But over a third of them who are looking to buy their next home found availability in the right location one of the ‘biggest challenges’.
