Having pledged, in January, £25,000 to charities and organisations in and around Nantwich, estate agents, Baker Wynne & Wilson, celebrating 25 years in business, hosted an event at Combermere Abbey to celebrate with the 24 beneficiaries.

The £25,000 community pledge was launched in January and gave local charities and organisations the opportunity to pledge for money for specific projects. The judging panel, which consisted of: the new High Sheriff of Cheshire, Sarah Callander Beckett, celebrity vet, Steve Leonard, MD of the UK’s largest regional cheese producer, Mike Heler and Christine Farrall, past mayor of Nantwich, amongst others, had a tough time making a decision, but finally spilt the amount between 24 organisations.

The event was at Combermere Abbey, home to Sarah Callander Beckett. Beneficiaries, partners and team member, enjoyed a champagne reception.

John Baker said, “This whole process has really opened our eyes to the amazing work that people do in our community. The Overwater Wheelyboat Services; Cheshire Young Carers; Riding for the Disabled; Worleston District Village Hall and Home-Start, supporting local families going through challenging times. This is just a handful of the organisations that we have chosen and we can’t wait to see how they are putting the pledge funding to great use.”
