Wanstead estate agent runs half marathon for Brain Tumour Research
EXP UK estate agent and brain tumour sufferer, Clare Hughes, is running alongside her daughter to raise funds to help people like herself.
Ten years after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, veteran estate agent, Clare Hughes, has returned to running, taking part in a half marathon with her daughter over the weekend.
Despite living with poor balance, deafness in one ear, facial palsy and an involuntary facial muscle movement, Clare will take on The Big Half to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
A Wanstead estate agent of 20 years, her brain tumour is part of the reason she set up her own business with EXP UK and co-founded Women in Estate Agency.
She said: “I speak to hundreds of people who have faced their own challenges but when they hear my story and see the visual effects of a brain tumour, they are often surprised that I am standing to tell the tale. But I greet them with the question, what is the alternative? Some have even described my facial palsy as a superpower as it makes me stand out and memorable in a competitive industry.”
The 61-year-old mum-of-three endured Gamma Knife radiotherapy and four years ago had surgery which removed 95% of her tumour. She is now monitored with regular scans.
Clare has raised almost £700 so far, but you can still support her by donating here.
Fabulous !
