Half a century milestone

Local East London and Essex estate agents, Douglas Allen, mark their 50th birthday this year.

The estate agent was originally established in 1973 as Douglas Allen Spiro and has since helped hundreds across the area on their life’s journey and is now also well known for its charitable endeavours.

Douglas Allen regularly takes to the streets of East London and Essex to help raise money for local charities in the area, including that of Haven House, with whom the Woodford Green branch has had a long-term relationship with.

Operations Director, Michael Wright, said: “Celebrating 50 years is a huge feat, and this year we are planning on celebrating our half-century by helping even more people, and further supporting everyone in our community. We truly would not be here if it wasn’t for the trust, respect and pride in our staff and those around us have.”

Just last month, all Douglas Allen branches completed a charity day where they raised over £1,000 in support of local charities all across East London and Essex.

In 1991, Douglas Allen was bought by Arun Estates founder, Paul Rooney, who partnered Douglas Allen with three more estate agency brands in the Southeast; Cubitt & West, Pittis and Wards. In doing so he created a network of over 100 branches spanning across the Southeast to give customers a way to network to other regions partnered with a local understanding.
