Acquisition makes estate agency ‘fastest growing in Wales’
Estate agency Blackbear now has three branches following the purchase of Chandler Rogers from its founder for an undisclosed sum.

A growing estate agency in Wales co-founded by a high profile rugby player has bought leading Tenby sales firm Chandler Rogers for an undisclosed sum.
Blackbear, which was founded by Gareth Davies in 2024, initially in Pembrokeshire, early this year opened its second branch in Swansea, but now has a third branch following the purchase of the 18-old Tenby firm.
All staff are to be retained and for the time being the branch will continue under its current name before eventuallly transitioning to the Blackbear brand.
Blackbear’s operational director Jamie Barnett (second from right) says the firm wants to acquire other estate agencies via a ‘growth with respect’ approach and will carry forward the heritage and reputation of Chandler Rogers but use modern IT systems and ‘fresh energy’ to meet the demands of today’s market.
“Chandler Roger’s has always been about trust, service, and local knowledge,” says Martyn Rogers (second from left), director of Chandler Rogers.
Legacy
“From our very first conversations, it was clear that Jamie and the Blackbear team shared those values and had the vision to build on them. This deal ensures that our legacy continues, while opening the door to new opportunities for our clients and community.”
Barnett says: “We’re proud to welcome Chandler Rogers into Blackbear. It’s a name with deep roots in the community and a reputation built over many years. From day one, Martyn has been a fantastic partner, and we hope to see him involved with Blackbear again in the future.
“This acquisition strengthens our position as one of the fastest growing agencies in Wales and shows what’s possible when tradition and ambition come together.”
Blackbear says it is now looking to growth further both by acquisition in place such as Cardiff and Bristol but also offering franchises to agents looking to start up their own business. More information from Simon John via email.
