Estate agency launches second innovative charity push

Worcestershire estate agent, Nicol & Co, are encouraging local residents to sign up for their second annual garage sale in a bid to declutter their homes and connect with their community.

The inaugural event held in June last year saw around 80 households in more than 45 streets take part, with hundreds of buyers across Droitwich, Worcester and Malvern hunting for a bargain.

Returning this summer, ‘The Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ involves getting as many neighbours as possible to simultaneously hold a garage sale, giving residents and homeowners a chance to sell unwanted items while decluttering their homes, raising some cash and building a sense of community in their local area.

Bigger and better

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, commented: “Our launch event last summer was a fabulous day and we had great feedback from everyone taking part that they loved doing it.

“They all managed to get rid of plenty of unwanted items, chatted to loads of neighbours on their drives and front gardens than they would normally, plus they all made a bit of money as well.”

Ahead of the event, Nicol & Co will share hints and tips to help people with their sorting and packaging process and provide signage to promote streets where homeowners are taking part.

The agent is hoping that this year’s garage sale will be even bigger and will be heavily promoting it across their social media platforms.

Matt added: “Holding a garage sale can be a great way to meet neighbours and chat to members of the community, whilst also having a positive impact on the environment by reducing waste and keeping items out of landfills, giving them a new lease of life instead.”
