Mark Howard, who works as a sales consultant at estate agency Liberty Gate in Nottingham, says he was so nervous about going before the judges he didn’t want to sing.

But he managed to overcome the nerves and actually wowed all four judges, including Sir Tom Jones, with his rendition of Anywhere Away from Here by Pink and Rag’n’Bone Man.

“I was so nervous on the day I wasn’t sure if I could do it,” he says. “Luckily they didn’t show much about that on the show.”

Speaking to The Neg back at his desk for the first time since his eye-catching performance screened last Saturday, the 27-year-old said that once on the stage he was able to “go into a bubble” and shut the nerves out.

Howard has worked at Liberty Gate for seven months after previously being a self-employed agent.”

What about the future now he is a TV star? “Well, I love my job so I’m happy carrying on doing this. If something big happens because I’ve been on The Voice then great, but otherwise it’s okay.”

He is due to appear on The Voice again in the next round, and this time will be coached by judge Anne-Marie who he chose as his mentor.

Fellow estate agent Andrew Le Page, who works for Dubai-based Better Homes, came fourth in the recent series of Love Island.
