Fine & Country expands footprint in West Country with new Exeter office

Premium agent opens new office in business district to serve Devon as ‘flight to the country’ shows no sign of abating.

One of the country’s fastest-growing premium estate agency brands, Fine & County, has opened a new office in Exeter.

The office in the prominent Southernhay business district of the city covers a wide area extending into Mid, East and South Devon.

Fine & Country Exeter will be headed by associate director Jonathan Gilbert-Steers, a property specialist who was born and raised in Devon.

He has spent more than two decades in property and marketing for a number of prestigious estate agency brands within the South-West, in particular Devon and Cornwall,

He says the new office is a reflection of the post-pandemic trend of working from home and moving out of city centres.

New-found freedom

“With this new-found freedom, we have discovered that many more national and international buyers have chosen to move to the area, where one is closer to nature yet can still enjoy city life,” added Jonathan.

“As with other areas around the country, we too have seen an increase in the number of people moving home since the easing of the restrictions, which has stimulated house prices as demand outstrips supply. The strong market has attracted more homeowners who wish to make the most of the current market. Now is the time to sell.”

He says properties in and around Exeter are in high demand. “The area has one of the best selections of waterside properties along the picturesque Exeter Quay, ever popular estuary villages and Exmouth marina. Closer to the city, there is a beautiful blend of historical and contemporary architecture within Exeter city centre itself.

“We are also experiencing huge demand for rural properties, often with features that also promote an equestrian or golfing style of life.”

Jonathan believes the key to driving property sales in the region is the relationship agents have with their clients. “It’s how well you connect with the people you are trying to support, by communicating your understanding back to them in the marketing of their most valuable possession,” he said.

“Our extensive knowledge of the area, as well as our understanding of the how to effectively market upper-end properties and the backing of a premium brand such as Fine & Country, will help us to make a powerful impact in the local area.”
