HM Land Registry tells estate agents it’s ‘ready for strike action’
Government department says it is reviewing the controls it has in place ahead of proposed strike action by civil servants.
HM Land Registry says it’s ready for any disruption caused by proposed planned strike action later this year and beyond and says that it is reviewing its current procedures to identify any risks to business.
Whether it’s for a one day strike or a period of sustained action HM Land Registry says it is preparing for all scenarios.
FLUMMOXED
The Neg revealed earlier this week how the property industry has been left flummoxed at HM Land Registry civil servants’ decision to strike next month.
HM Land Registry is among the 126 government departments from pensions to passports that voted for strike action last week.
The Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) announced on Thursday that the threshold for strike action had been hit in 126 public sector workplaces, covering 100,000 workers.
Strikes are meant to begin in December and could go on until the middle of next year.
SIDE-BY-SIDE
The union previously suggested its members could take coordinated action, side-by-side with workers from other sectors striking in the coming months.
While any strike action is unlikely to have much impact on the property market on LinkedIn the news was met with derision with many in the property industry joking that HM Land Registry staff going on strike would have little impact on an already hampered service.
HM Land Registry is reviewing the controls it has in place to mitigate and reduce the impacts of all identified risks.”
But a spokesman for HM Land Registry tells The Neg: “The PCS National Executive Committee will take a decision on 18th November regarding whether it will call for strike action.
“In the meantime, HM Land Registry is reviewing the controls it has in place to mitigate and reduce the impacts of all identified risks potentially arising from single day or sustained action.
“Currently, we anticipate minimal disruption to our services by planning for different scenarios.”
