Inventory firm launches first national drone service for estate agents
InventoryBase says its partnership with Drone Safe Register will offer a bookable service for surveys, inventories and marketing videos.
A company based in Portsmouth has launched the UK’s first national drone service specifically for estate agents.
InventoryBase, which is an inspection software company that offers property inspection and inventory services across the UK, has teamed up with Drone Safe Register, which in 2018 was a winner on BBC TV show Dragon’s Den, winning backing from Peter Jones.
He put £140,000 into the company in return for a 40% share in its business.
The service is now available through InventoryBase which means that agents wishing to add a drone video to a property listing, or provide video evidence of a property’s condition prior to a letting or sale, can now book one online.
Services like this are necessary – agents cannot fly a device without a licence and to get one must attended an intensive three day course, a theory exam and a flight test to become qualified and obtain permission from the CAA.
InventoryBase claims drone surveys are useful for roof surveys and growing in popularity among surveyors for their ability to get into hard-to-reach features on taller buildings.
“With the new partnership, customers of InventoryBase can book a remote drone inspection or fly-over of their property to obtain high resolution photos and video on-demand,” says Steve Rad (left), MD of the company, which was launched in 2012.
“With increasing restrictions governing movement, interactions need to be more instant with technology adapting to the consumers need to be and kept informed. Drone surveys can be booked via Inventory base for £199.

Some forward thinking companies are grasping the opportunities that technology and smart collaboration affords. Steve Rad at InventoryBase and his business partner James not only see the future but are making it. Mr Rad’s comment ‘with increasing restrictions governing movement, interactions need to be more instant with technology adapting to the consumers need to be kept informed’ is the agile mantra that any profitable business should be adopting.
Separately, InventoryBase’s workstreams built around inventory reports, training, qualifications and the ability to access inventory requests from landlords is also part of their same forward thinking and well worth a look.
