“It is downright dangerous!” – Quirk presents new TV show

Russell Quirk how has his own programme on TalkTV where one of the subjects under discussion is property.

Ex-agent and PR man Russell Quirk now has his own show on TalkTV (main picture) where he discusses property and other consumer issues.

The show called ‘Money Talk’ is available on YouTube, with the first one where he looks at house prices, only 16 minutes long.

Money Talk, which is going to be broadcast every Wednesday, will feature studio guests, and does answer questions from viewers.

“I think it is downright dangerous!”

Quirk says in the first show that there isn’t going to be a price crash this year: “The problem with prophecies of doom when it comes to the housing market, not only is it kind of hyperbole and often exaggerated, I think it is downright dangerous!”

He describes himself as the ‘token optimist’ and says now is “a great time to buy” a house despite the “doomsday predictions”.

‘Wanna bet?’

He debates with guest Tejvan Pettinger, founder of the Economics Help website, whether house prices will fall this year, and they actually agree a £100 bet for charity on air.

Pettinger believes house prices will go down because interest rates are now much higher than just six months ago before the now infamous Mini-Budget announced by then Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng.

But Quirk says that mortgage rates have returned to ‘a normal level’, and 90% or even 95% mortgages are still available.

They also discuss where the housing ‘hotspots’ of the highest price jumps are.
