Lettings platform says agents can onboard landlords in same time it takes to a cuppa

Goodlord says its initiative will help agents save time and retain landlords and claims it is an 'industry first'.

A new digital landlord onboarding service aims to speed up the process for lettings agents and make life easier for landlords.

Lettings platform Goodlord claims the industry-first will mean landlords can complete identity checks, upload documentation to let their properties, and sign terms of business in under 10 minutes. It says this will bring their experience in line with how most agents already handle tenant referencing and applications.

Goodlord reckons that the majority of new landlord instructions currently require three or more pieces of software to process, which can cause delays for letting agents between winning new instructions and actually being able to list a new property for rent.

The first element of Goodlord’s digital landlord onboarding available to agencies will be digital signing of the terms of business.

Further releases in the coming months will let landlords log in to their agency-branded online portal and complete checks for identity, anti-money laundering and land title, as well as upload key documents, including energy performance and gas safety certificates. Landlords will then be able to view the progress of their properties’ tenancies and update documents online.

Rent protection

Goodlord also wants to make it easier for them to access additional products and services during the process, such as rent protection insurance and utility switching and void management, improving conversions and boosting revenue for agents.

“This means that properties have been delayed coming to market, with landlords and letting agents alike missing out on valuable revenue,” he says.

“Simplifying the onboarding process for landlords will improve their experience with a new agency, setting these agencies apart from their competition and enabling them to let properties faster.”
