NE estate agent heads up leading industry fundraising charity
Lauren Scott, who is a former President of Propertymark, is now chair of its charitable arm the Arbon Trust, taking over from Aidan Reid.
Former NAEA Propertymark president and NE estate agent Lauren Scott (pictured) has taken over as chair of the Arbon Trust, Propertymark’s charitable arm.
The managing director of Trading Places Estate Agents in Whitley Bay replaces Aidan Reid, who will remain as a trustee, while former ARLA Propertymark President Phil Keddie also becomes a trustee.
The Arbon Trust has helped members, their families and Propertymark staff since it was set up in 2015. It has also supported other charities through fundraising activities to raise tens of thousands of pounds and provided members facing extreme difficulties with vital financial support.
Run by seven independent estate agent industry trustees, it operates in confidentiality to provide support in two principal areas: qualification grants and financial assistance for members who have suffered from a physical or mental illness.
Sleep out
Recent supported charity events include Propertymark’s big family walking event that took place over the pandemic and raised more than £7,000 for the young people’s mental health charity, Young Minds, as well as Propertymark’s Great Agent Sleep Out where agents from across the country spent a night in the elements, raising £66,573 for the homeless charity Centrepoint, which overall raised £500,000 through various national and regional sleep outs.
“I’ve always been a keen advocate for everything we do at Arbon Trust, and it is ever-more important that, given the effects of the pandemic on many people’s lives and mental health, we look to continue to support as many people as we can,” says Scott.
“It is an honour to take on this role and responsibility and I look forward to making continued strides in the positive changes that our trust makes.”
