TV star triggers outrage after calling for ‘civil disobedience’ over self-isolation rules
Kirstie Allsopp is criticised by many followers on Twitter for her stance, but received support from 1980s pop band Right Said Fred.
Property TV presented Kirstie Allsopp has caused a Twitter storm after she recommended via her @KirstieMAllsopp account that people turn to civil disobedience over self isolation rules.
The outpoken 49-year-old co-presenter of Channel 4 show Location, Location, Location has said on the social media platform that: “I am starting to reach the horrible conclusion that the only way to address some of this idiocy is with mass civil disobedience.
“If every vaccinated person returning from France simply refuses to quarantine, what can they actually do?”.
Her online comments have been described as ‘hugely irresponsible’ and ‘ignorant’ although she garnered support for her stance from an unlikely corner of the Twittersphere, 1980s pop band duo Right Said Fred.
Allsopp was responding to the last-minute decision by the government to require UK citizens to self-isolate for ten days after returning from a visit to France regardless, whether they had been double-vaccinated or not.
Arrivals will also have to complete a day two and day eight test, regardless of vaccination status, as a ‘precautionary measure’.
The government statement says that while current cases of the Beta variant in France are not high enough to require arrivals to enter managed quarantine, ‘it is important to consider the potential detection and transmission risk in light of the current situation in England’.
Hoping to incite
But Allsopp’s comment have been heavily criticised by some of her followers.
Lisa Foskett tweeted to Allsopp: “I have family that currently have, and suffering with, Covid – all are double vaccinated!! What, exactly, are you trying or hoping to incite?”.
Marie Lally pitched in: “Is it possible you should consider further the influence you may have on people? These kind of throw away tweets are at best, really unhelpful and at worst, dangerous!”.

I used to be a fan of Allsop – her idiotic opinions over the lockdown and COvid have completely changed my opinion of her in her safe little world it may be different – but out here in the real property world we have an obligation to protect our staff and clients as well as ourselves….I wouldn’t even consider a holiday at the moment far too risky but if you choose to do so be prepared to take tests and isolate and be ill…. BUt DO NOT PASS IT ON TO ME thank you!

Allsopp should join the Far left of the Labour party, or perhaps she already has.
