OnTheMarket is on the verge of overtaking Rightmove for lettings leads, the CEO of leading estate agency group Acorn has claimed.
Rob Sargent (above), whose firm operates 35 branches across SE London and Kent via the Acorn, John Payne and Lanford Russell brands, says the sales leads it receives from OTM have doubled, and that its letting leads have tripled.
The Negotiator asked OTM over what time period this lead delivery improvement took place, but has not received a response yet.
This, he claims during an interview on YouTube filmed by OTM, means the leads generated by the portal are rivalling – and sometimes exceeding – those supplied by Rightmove.
“The quality of the OnTheMarket leads are certainly of a higher level and there is no question that the buyers and vendors who are coming through that channel are a little bit more motivated,” he says.
During the interview Sargent also underlines his frustration with Rightmove, which he criticises for hiking its charges every year for “what is essentially the same service,” he says.
“There is no debate that all the agents nationally in the UK should be using OnTheMarket, we as a business would not hesitate to recommend OnTheMarket and for agents who see the bigger picture, and want to secure their own future, it’s definitely the place to be,” he adds.
Acorn has been a flag bearer for OTM since it launched in 2015 and lists only with two portals – Rightmove and OnTheMarket.
