Connells Group hatches online plan
The national estate agency group Connells has jumped into the online agency world with the acquisition of Hatched.co.uk. Hatched – one of the original pioneers of the online estate agency model – is, says Connells, aligned with its “ambitious growth strategy to extend its presence in the UK property market.” This purchase follows the recent acquisition of 18 branch Gascoigne Halman with offices in Cheshire and south Manchester. While other corporate agencies have made noises about online agency acquisitions, this is the first major deal. Connells say that Hatched will ‘bring complementary capabilities including first-hand knowledge and experience of this developing sector.” It will also expand Connells into towns and cities not currently covered by its existing estate agency operation. Hatched will continue to trade under its existing brand with founder and managing director Adam Day remaining in charge of operations. “We are pleased to welcome into the Group such an innovative business and well established player in the online space,” says Connells Group CEO, David Livesey (left). “The acquisition of Hatched represents a natural progression towards further enhancing our online proposition and wholly complements our strategy to expand our high street footprint. We are entirely committed to our branch…

Zoopla and Rightmove provide ‘competitive advantage’ – Connells
A detailed analysis of email leads delivered by Zoopla and Rightmove throughout 2014 show that the level of duplication between the two major portals is lower than previously thought, the Connells Group has claimed. Internal data from Connells reveals that of all consumers who sent email leads through the major portals, 93.8 per cent were unique to either Zoopla or Rightmove with only the remainder duplicated between the top two portals. What’s more, Connells claims that for the highest value market appraisal leads, 99.9 per cent were unique, with just 0.1 per cent duplication. David Plumtree (left), Group CEO Estate Agency Connells Group, said, “With the recent launch of Agents’ Mutual we were keen to confirm the value delivered to our network by the major property portals, reaffirming the low level of duplication of leads between the two main players, which has continued into 2015. “The value of being on both Zoopla and Rightmove is clear, and remains the best choice for our customers and network of agency offices in 2015.” As a shareholder in Zoopla, the Connells Group has opted not to sign up to OnTheMarket.com (OTM), which launched earlier this year. Meanwhile, Zoopla Property Group (ZPG) has confirmed…

Connells eyes ambitious growth strategy
Connells plan to open as many as 75 new lettings branches in 2015, as part of the firm’s ambitious expansion plans, having already enjoyed an exceptional year of growth in 2014. Connells Group’s multi-million pound lettings expansion programme continued to gain momentum last year after achieving a total of 68 new lettings branch openings and a growing number of lettings acquisitions in what continues to be one of the largest lettings expansion projects ever undertaken by a UK agency. “2014 was an exceptional year of growth for the Connells lettings business and 2015 shows no sign of slowing down,” said Stephen Nation (left), the Group’s Lettings Managing Director. “We had a record number of new branch openings, both in existing and new locations, achieved key acquisitions with a good geographical spread and appointed Mark Chatterton as Corporate Lettings Director to lead our growth. Our aim for 2015 is to continue this rapid expansion plan with a further 75 new lettings branches added to our local branch network.” Testimony to the Group’s already strong presence in the lettings market, Connells Group Lettings recorded a 20 per cent rise in the number of homes to let coming onto the market and a…
