A British estate agency has landed a global coup after being instructed as the sole international estate agency to sell one of America’s most expensive and famous homes.

Beauchamp Estates is to market The Beverley House in Beverley Hills, Los Angeles for £90 million or $119 million to the world’s super-rich.

Beauchamp has a challenge on its hands. The property has been for sale on and off now for over 13 years, being marketed variously for between $95 and $195 million but without success.

hearstThe property is the former home of infamous newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst (pictured) and his partner, Hollywood actress Marion Davies, who lived in the property until his death in 1951.

The film Citizen Kane, which loosely documented Hearst’s strange life, is still regularly voted the best film ever made.

Beauchamp Estate says Hearst’s home is the most expensive American listing and instruction to be given to a London estate agent to market and sell in many years and underlines London’s role as the go-to hub for the world’s super-rich.

In a sign of how the world’s wealth has shifted away from the US, the agency is to market the property to potential buyers such sa the Saudi Royal family, the Abu Dhabi Royal family, Chinese and Hong Kong billionaires, the Thai Royal family or a Nigerian, Russian or South African commodities billionaire.

The Beverley House has also been a star in its own right, appearing in several films including The Godfather and The Bodyguard, and rented by John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy as well as Beyoncé.

It’s an 18 bedroom, 25 bathroom, 28,975 sq ft private palace, located in 3.5 acres of landscaped grounds.

jeremy gee“There are just around 20 families around the world who have the wealth to buy this Beverly Hills mansion and use it as a holiday home, to be visited perhaps once or twice a year, or used by family members visiting or studying in California,” says Jeremy Gee, Manging Director of Beauchamp Estates (pictured).
