ARLA finds replacement President Elect after shock resignation of previous holder
Senior industry figure Angela Davey will become the association's President later this year after original candidate Richard Selwyn stepped down for personal reasons.
It’s taken nearly three months, but ARLA Propertymark has found a replacement for its President Elect, Richard Selwyn, who stepped down just a few weeks after taking up the title to send more time with his family.
His replacement, Angela Davey, is Head of Lettings at 29-branch Peter Alan, the largest estate agency in Wales.
Davey’s reputation and roots in the industry are considerable and span four decades including a 16-year stint at Peter Alan.
She is well known for launching the company’s upmarket PA Black lettings brand and in 2015 she was appointed as ARLA’s regional representative in Wales.
Late last year she led efforts to delay Welsh government plans to change rules on holding deposits, helping win a further 11 weeks for estate agents to change their IT systems.
Davey is also accredited as a Rent Smart Wales trainer and has been on ARLA’s Welsh board since 2016.
“I’m honoured to have been appointed President Elect; 2020 marks 30 years as an ARLA Propertymark member, and I am looking forward to giving back to the association that has helped me so much during my career,” she says.
“The sector has changed significantly over the years and I intend to help the industry navigate the inevitable changes that will come during my Presidency.”
