Covid checker launched for lettings agents managing student accommodation

Arthur.com CEO says its new functionality is vital as some 40 universities report Covid cases and self-isolating students.

A leading lettings platform used by thousands of lettings agents and HMO landlords across the UK has added a student Covid status checker to its functionality.

The update to Arthur, which was founded in 2012 and has 145,000 properties on its database, can now track student tenants’ health as many under-graduates return to their courses this week.

A BBC investigation published on Monday revealed that Coronavirus cases have been reported at 40 universities and that thousands of students are already self-isolating.

The challenges this will cause for lettings agents and property managers are substantial, says Marc Trup founder and CEO of Arthur, given the staff safety and pastoral care issues it will throw up.

Health and safety

“It’s critical student property managers are prepared to adapt to any changes that arise so they can smoothly manage the health and safety of student tenants, or they risk falling behind competitors who can,” he says.

Arthur now has the functionality for students to fill out a Covid profile that alerts property managers allowing them to take into account any circumstances which may impact property visits, scheduled viewings, and any contractor work required.

The Covid Profile enables tenants to connect and share Covid-19 related information including options to confirm if they are self-isolating, have symptoms, have been in contact with someone who has tested positive in the last 14 days, or if there is anyone in the household who is considered at risk.

Arthur is a whole-tenancy cloud-based platform that enable agents to automate and streamline many of the tenant-find and property management processes, and includes separate versions of its smartphone app for agents, tenants, contractors and landlords.
