Watch this space…says expanding Sussex independent estate agency
Michael Jones & Co says more acquisitions may be on the way as it finalises transfer of competitor into its wider business.
Michael Jones & Company, the largest independent estate agency in West Sussex, has finalised its acquisition of competitor Curtis & Co which has now been incorporated into the wider business.
This follows Michael Jones & Company’s acquisition of another competitor, Bacon & Co, based in Lancing, 18 months ago.
A spokesperson for the 27-year-old estate agency told The Negotiator that more acquisitions were likely to be in the pipeline, although it couldn’t reveal any details yet.
Findon-based Curtis & Son has been purchased for an undisclosed sum and will now operate as Michael Jones & Curtis. Its sole branch is to remain open and has been refurbished and rebranded, now trading as Michael Jones & Curtis.
Estate agency
Three Curtis & Son staff were working at the original branch but just one, manager Barry Parker, has been transferred. Parker is being joined by Michael Jones colleagues including Senior Branch Manager Peter Hassell, who have moved over from its own branch nearby, which is now to shut up shop.
Curtis & Son was started up in 1976, making it one of the oldest estate agents in the region.
The founders were Terry and Pat Curtis. Their daughter, Jane, had been actively involved in running the estate agency in recent years alongside Barry Parker (left), who joined in 1985.
He is a past President of the Worthing and District Estate Agents Association and has lived and worked in the area for over 40 years.
The founders of Curtis & Son have recently moved on including Pat Curtis, who now works as a vet.
