Hybrid agency eMoov has confirmed that it will makes changes to its Google search ad in which it claims the company can help vendors ‘save thousands’ if they use its service.

The agency was reported to the Advertising Standards Authority by a unidentified member of the public who challenged whether this claim was misleading and could be substantiated.

But the advertising watchdog did not consider the text misleading enough to warrant a full investigation and instead entered into an informal arrangement with Emoov, after which the company said it would alter the text.

It instead now reads: “We’ve Helped Over 50,000 Customers & 99% of them Recommend Us”.

Emoov and the ASA

Emoov has been referred to the ASA 112 times before including two upheld cases and nine informal ones. The upheld claims include one  in June 2015 when a complaint by PDQ Estates about its advertising went to a full ruling, which was partially upheld.

The ASA also investigated the agency in 2016 over a complaint about a sales promotion featured on its website. All three issues in the case investigated by the ASA were upheld, and earlier this year over an online advert claims about how much fees vendors could save.
