Outgoing Rightmove CEO Peter Brooks-Johnson may be in the running to take over as boss of women’s fashion magazine Marie Claire.

Brooks-Johnson, who is due to leave the portal in March, is a candidate to take over at publisher Future, Sky News is reporting.

Future produces Marie Claire, as well as design title Wallpaper, Country Life and PC Gamer. It also owns comparison website GoCompare.

Current Future CEO Zillah Byng-Thorne is leaving after ten years in the job to become chair at Trustpilot, the online reviews platform.

Replacement

After joining Rightmove in 2006 as its director of agency, Brooks-Johnson worked his way up the senior ranks until becoming MD in 2011. He was then made COO in 2013 and CEO in 2017.

He is also on the board of Adevinta, an online classified advertising firm.

His replacement is Swede Johan Svanström who will formally take over after the company reveals its full-year results. He led holiday bookings firms Hotels.com and Expedia, where he grew revenues.

I have decided it is an appropriate time to seek a new challenge.”

When it was announced he was leaving Rightmove in May last year, Brooks-Johnson said: “With Rightmove progressing well on its mission to make home moving easier and our strong trading from 2021 continuing into 2022, I have decided it is an appropriate time to seek a new challenge.

“I continue to be hugely enthusiastic about the company and the opportunities we see ahead. I have no doubt that Rightmove will continue to deliver for home hunters, customers and shareholders for many years to come.”
