Amidst increasing competition in the portal sector Zoopla is upping its game by boosting the uptake of its home claim function and making a number of improvements to its search criteria.

Homeowners who claim their home on Zoopla are provided with personalised insight into their local property market including nearby properties for sale, the average number of days they have spent on the market and the best-performing property types.

Rich Hayes (pictured), Zoopla’s COO believes the changes will help it deliver on its ambition to be ‘the UK’s trusted partner for home decisions.’

It says it is focusing on: “Building a higher intent seller audience versus its competitors, using its ongoing strength in property valuation and area insights.

25% increase

“One million more people claimed a home during the past year, with Zoopla on track to hit four million claimed homes in 2024. This represents a 25% increase from 2023, with one in four properties going on to be listed on Zoopla.”

The portal claims that 60% of homeowners are now returning every month to find out the value and potential demand for their homes and, importantly, connect with agents. This means agents are introduced to higher-intent vendors when they decide to sell.

Zoopla has also been busy optimising its search experience for renters and buyers over the last quarter, which it says is delivering a +16% increase in lead conversion rates.

We’re delivering against our ambition to be the UK’s trusted partner for key home decisions.”

The optimisations include adding a new ‘hybrid map’ to listings, a feature that enables consumers to simultaneously view the map and listing cards which has led to a 20% uplift in ‘for sale’ email leads.

Improvements have also been made to the filters, which include adding a leasehold vs freehold option and the ability to filter by the number of bathrooms. In addition, Zoopla is driving users back to the site by emailing 1.2m people who have been searching for a new home with recommended listings using their most common search criteria.
