‘Pivotal moment’ for BTR says Association for Rental Living
Association is calling on the BTR sector to work together to drive progress, shape policy and amplify its voice.

In a bid to unite the Build to Rent sector and deliver up to two million more homes, the Association for Rental Living (ARL) has launched a new manifesto in which it outlines its strategic goals, values and objectives.
Brendan Geraghty (pictured), CEO of the Association for Rental Living, says: “The Rental Living Sector stands at a pivotal moment. As government policy shifts toward pro-growth and pro-housing strategies, we have a powerful opportunity — and responsibility — to demonstrate the sector’s current and future value to society, government and business.
Together, we’re shaping the future of rental living, empowering it to be stronger, smarter and better for all.”
“Together, we’re shaping the future of rental living, empowering it to be stronger, smarter and better for all.”
ARL’s vision for the sector, it says, is already embodied in the Build to Rent Code of Practice and draft Customer Charter, both of which grew from the expertise of the Association for Rental Living’s members.
It is, though, now calling on the Rental Living Sector to unite in delivering Build to Rent as a transformational housing solution that can deliver up to two million additional homes in the UK and unlock £300 billion in long-term investment in the country’s economy.
Drawing on the strength of its unique committees and regional hubs, the Association says it plans to leverage and support its networks and group of special advisors to harness the full breadth of its members’ expertise to develop policy and establish and share best practice.
Driving up standards
Its mission, it adds, is to drive up standards, foster community and create homes where people thrive, build trust and promote the sector’s value to public and private stakeholders
and serve as the trusted authority for rental living while empowering sector growth and supporting the delivery of high-quality homes.
The Association for Rental Living represents all institutionally backed, professionally managed purpose-built rental living sectors, including urban and suburban single-family and multi-family rental, co-living, and later living.
