The art of fundraising
Every year West London estate agents Horton and Garton support the annual ‘Artists At Home’ open studios event – the largest and longest-running open studios event in the Capital – which sees local artists open up their homes and studios to the public.
In the spirit of the challenging year, the artists and Team H&G refused to give up and kept the event alive with this year’s efforts channelled into a fundraising opportunity for a critical local charity. The Artists At Home Christmas charity online auction saw over 100 professional artists sell art online ranging from pottery and jewellery to paintings with at least 50 per cent of each winning bid going toward The Upper Room charity – many artists opted to donate 100 per cent of the winning bids. The Upper Room charity has been helping the homeless, migrant workers, ex-offenders and other socially disadvantaged people to improve their lives for over 30 years. In total, the online auction raised £11,396.
Horton and Garton’s founder John Horton says of the event, “With this auction, Artists At Home flipped the script on 2020!”
