The hunt to find the killer of estate agent Suzy Lamplugh has taken another unexpected twist as her surviving family mark the 35-year anniversary of her disappearance.

Brother Richard Lamplugh has called for police to interview the ‘Suffolk strangler’ AKA Steve Wright who already in jail serving time for the murder of five prostitutes.

Wright was known to Suzy after the pair worked together on the QE2 cruise liner during the years leading up to her disappearance in 1986 aged 25 years old.

Wright, 63, is serving life for murdering five women within a fortnight in 2006, crime that shocked the nation as the naked bodies of his victims were dumped around Ipswich, Suffolk.

But although Wright was ruled out as a suspect in the Lamplugh case during 2008, his father believes his son may have murdered her.

Lamplugh’s brother told a national newspaper over the weekend that he saw no reason why police couldn’t speak to Wright about Suzy and that speaking to him ‘could be worthwhile’.

“It would be lovely to find her. To have somewhere where we could scatter her ashes,” he told The Sunday Mirror.

One claimed clue linking Wright to the case is that he often used the word ‘kipper’ as a slang for ‘face’.

The office diary entry by Lamplugh for her fateful appointment at a property on Shorrolds Road in Fulham, west London was to meet a ‘Mr Kipper’.
