Ewemove has announced that one of its seasoned agents is growing his business, after batting off accusations that it hires inexperienced agents in a bid to expand.

Nine months since launching his franchise in Welwyn Garden City, Chris Wells (pictured), who at 27 is already a ten-year veteran in the property industry, is now opening an operation in Milton Keynes and Bletchley.

He started his agency career in Malta before joining a UK-based corporate and says that since his official opening in September, business has gone from strength to strength.

“This successful start and my belief that hybrid agencies are the future has led me to invest in another area and grow my team,” says Wells.

“I crunched the numbers before committing to EweMove and worked out that I’d be earning more money selling just two properties a month as my own boss than I would selling 10-12 homes if I were employed.

“I’m looking forward to working hard, growing my business and reaping the rewards.”

The appointment of ‘branch director’, former forestry worker Dean Du Plessis, who has recently arrived from South Africa, sparked surprise from some in the industry; agents were concerned that Ewemove is taking on ‘green’ franchisees who are lacking in experience of the UK housing, business or regulatory environment.

Ewemove Head Shepherd Nick Neill defended the firm’s strategy and insisted that customer focus, sales capability, emotional stability and business management experience were all key to making a successful estate agent, while some very experienced estate agents failed at running their own agency as they were only skilled in sales.
