Doncaster estate agent halts her work to help flood victims

A local representative of a leading online agent has swung into action in Yorkshire to help people flooded out of their houses and businesses in Bentley, one of the suburbs of Doncaster worst affected by this week’s flooding.

Rebecca Bradburn (pictured), who is YOPA’s representative in Doncaster, swung into action yesterday morning and spent the day out of her office buying mops, buckets, food, cleaning products and brushes to help people in Bentley with the clean-up operation.

Several parts of Bentley remained under water yesterday and although there has been anger at the response of national and local politicians to the flooding, there have been many stories about being reported about the community in Doncaster pulling together.

Hot drink

Bradburn says Yopa also supplied several hundred flasks and thermal cups to “ensure all the hard working volunteers, rescuers and residents in Bentley get a well-deserved hot drink today in something other than a plastic party cup”, she says.

“We plan to return to Bentley tomorrow morning to drop off the remaining items to the community centres and the drop off centre at Custom Windows and Doors.

“A big thank you to my brother Sam Godfrey for running around and assisting me with carrying boxes and packing things up.”

One unintentional result of the charitable effort by Bradburn is that Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was pictured clutching a Yopa coffee cup in several national newspaper photos and evening TV news clips.

The Negotiator understand that Bradburn’s own home and office was not affected by the floods.
