Newton Fallowell was founded by Mark Newton in 1999 and although he's retired, his son David is still involved in the business, which is to plant 25,000 trees to celebrate the milestone.

An estate agency founded 25 years ago by a relative of Isaac Newton, the 18th century scientist credited with discovering gravity, is to plant 25,000 trees to tackle climate change.

Mark Newton established Grantham-based Newton Fallowell in 1999 but sold the 40-branch firm to the Belvoir Group in 2015. He is now retired but his son David is involved in its day-to-day operations.

The firm’s current boss since 2019, MD David Spackman, said the idea to plant trees came when 2021 began when it pledged to plant a tree for every board erected outside a property.

“Since then, thousands of trees have been planted and by the end of this year we have committed to planting a grand total of 25,000 trees,” he says.

“I am incredibly proud that Newton Fallowell has chosen to celebrate 25 years in business with an initiative that is designed to help tackle climate change.

Warming

“We are very aware of the important role that trees play in absorbing and storing the carbon dioxide emissions that are driving global warming.

“Newton Fallowell recognises that our negotiators are out and about every day going to viewings and we encourage everyone to use electric cars if they can, and to walk to appointments rather than drive if feasible, as well as trying to become paper free offices.”

The network of franchised estate agency branches is concentrated in the East and West Midlands.
