Is it licensed? Teclet launches automatic property checking via new partnership
New service from Teclet is being rolled out as the number of councils launching property licensing schemes is set to snowball next year.

Leading lettings platform Teclet has signed a partnership deal with property licensing compliance service Kamma.
This will enable letting agents who use Teclet to automatically check if a property is included within a local authority’s additional or selective licensing schemes.
Kamma, formerly known as GetRentr, is increasingly becoming a vital tool for letting agents and rental portfolio managers as the number of licensing schemes snowball.
A recent parliamentary briefing on property licensing claimed that 44 local authorities operate either a mandatory and discretionary property licensing scheme.
Kamma also recently predicted that the number of complex discretionary licensing schemes next year is due to increase by 39% as more cash-strapped councils eye the fees paid by landlords – which range from £500 to £1,000 every five years per property – as a useful source of revenue to fund housing quality enforcement.
“We are delighted to announce this partnership at a time when agency revenues are under threat from nimble competitors, landlord belt-tightening and the taxman,” says Kamma’s CEO Orla Shields (pictured).
“Partnering with Teclet allows us to deliver our world-leading data and local authority coverage on a world-class platform, reducing the burden of compliance, delivering peace of mind and opening up a new revenue stream at a time that agents need it most.”
Teclet director John Evans says: “With 386 mandatory and 124 discretionary schemes already in operation, and 48 set to start, the lettings market in 2021 is set to be the most highly regulated yet.”
