Zoopla clears self-service platform of breaking rules over £9.99 ad

Agreed.co.uk has not breached its guidelines Zoopla says after offering customers the chance to bypass agents.

Zoopla has cleared ‘a self-service property platform’ of breaking its rules by offering to bypass agents and market a property for just £9.99.

Agreed.co.uk gives customers the chance to advertise on Zoopla and Rightmove without the need to go through an estate agent.

A Facebook ad for services (pictured) offered by Agreed.co.uk said: “Thinking of moving? Bypass the estate agent and save £££s at Agreed.co.uk”.

“Sell or let your home yourself. Advertise on Rightmove, Zoopla and Prime Location for £9.99 a week”, it continued.

Agreed’s website is still offering sale or lets on Zoopla or Rightmove for £9.99 a week.

Checks made

Now, Zoopla says: “We’re confident that Agreed.co.uk is compliant with our member criteria and provides a level of post-sale support to be classified as an agent.”

A spokesperson says Agreed.co.uk makes checks such as proof of ownership and ID before any ad goes live.

Nathan Emerson, CEO of Propertymark, said at the time the ad was published: “Companies often offer a cheap marketing service where they list your property with the likes of Rightmove, Zoopla and OnTheMarket, which on the face of things often seems really appealing.

“A good agent will have the required skills to manage a sale and negotiate on a seller’s behalf.

“We have heard many stories of sellers who have taken on the sale of their property themselves through various tools such as Facebook Marketplace, and have been stung by legal and intricate situations,” he added.

“We would strongly encourage sellers to use a professional agent when looking to sell their property.”
