Rightmove has said its sorry to estate agents that have been adversely impacted the firm changing their numbers to allow them to have instant access to their call recordings.

The Neg told last week how one Milton Keynes estate agent was smarting over the number change as it would mean that he would have to unexpectedly spend hundreds of pounds changing his marketing material.

COSTS

The agent, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “As a business I decided to adopt the Rightmove telephone number throughout all of my business operations, it just made sense – one number all calls recorded and tracked etc – stationary, boards, business cards, leaflets, websites so you can imagine for me this number change is a real issue and one that will have costs to put right.”

But now Rightmove has apologised for and says the number change will improve the overall offering.

We’ve made this change to improve the service, so agents can now have instant access to their call recordings.”

A spokesman for the property portal told The Neg: “Over the past few months we’ve been gradually making a change to the phone numbers that home-hunters use to contact agents on Rightmove.

“We’ve made this change to improve the service, so agents can now have instant access to their call recordings.

“We know a few agents used these numbers in some of their external marketing materials, and we’re really sorry for the inconvenience caused to get these materials updated.

“We’ve tried to give people as much notice as possible about the change and the old numbers will continue to work until February next year.”
